Arcola, SK – Arcola Co-operative Association Limited has entered into an agreement to purchase Arcola Building Supplies (2005) Ltd, a local home and building business.

Through this acquisition, Arcola Co-op will gain an immediate and trusted presence in home and building solutions. The purchase ensures the co-operative is equipped with high-quality home and building products under a well-established operation to better serve the needs of members, customers and communities within the trading area.

“We are excited for this opportunity to enter into the home and building business,” said Matthew Almey, General Manager of Arcola Co-op. “Like Co-op, Arcola Building Supplies has a long and storied history in this community. This acquisition helps to ensure services and profits remain in the local communities that we serve.”

Operating under the ownership of Harry and Debra Laurent since 2005, Arcola Building Supplies (2005) Ltd has supplied high-quality lumber, building materials and hardware products to customers located in communities across southeastern Saskatchewan.

As part of the agreement, Harry will stay on through a transition period and all five staff members will be offered employment by Arcola Co-op.

“We are proud of the legacy we have built through Arcola Building Supplies,” said Harry and Debra Laurent. “Arcola Co-op shares our vision of valuing staff and customers, and we are confident they will continue to offer the same high-level of service that Arcola Building Supplies is known for.”

Arcola Co-op would like to thank Harry and Debra Laurent for two decades of service, dedication, and support to our community.

The acquisition is subject to conditions and expected to close in mid-June, with Co-op operations set to begin on June 17. The financial terms of this agreement will not be disclosed.
